AHA vs BHA = Water vs Oil

AHAs are water soluble acids, while BHAs are oil soluble.

Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) helps exfoliate the surface of your skin, which results in new, more evenly pigmented skin cells to generate & replace the exfoliated layer. You will notice that your skin feels more smooth after using AHA.

Meanwhile, Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA), which can penetrate deeper than AHA, can reach into the skin pores to remove dead skin cells and excess oil.

Should I use AHA or BHA?

Use AHA if your concerns are:

  • enlarged pores

  • fine lines

  • surface wrinkles

  • uneven skin tone

  • age spots and other mild hyperpigmentation

Use BHA if your concerns are:

  • sun damage

  • acne

Suitable skintypes

AHA is considered suitable for all skin types, but if your skin is extremely dry and sensitive, please proceed with caution.

Meanwhile, BHAs work the best for combination to oily skin.
